Teach in Thailand with Overseas Educational Group

The 'Teach in Thailand' program is one of several unique programs operated by Overseas Educational Group. Our organization is dedicated to helping people from abroad and from within Thailand gain understanding and knowledge, and to develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world. With help from non-profit, non-governmental partner organizations based in English speaking countries around the globe, we offer study and language programs, volunteer projects, work and travel programs, as well as internships and professional career development abroad.

Teach in Thailand, the program

The Teach in Thailand program offers excellent cross-cultural opportunities for native English-speaking participants who are approved graduates and/or qualified teachers. It is not necessary that you have a degree in education or teaching! This is an exceptional opportunity for you to learn more about Thai culture by experiencing life in Thailand first-hand as an English teacher in a Thai school. You will also be able to provide your students with useful lessons about your own language and culture, allowing both you and your students to gain a multi-cultural perspective of the world.

Program participants will also benefit from free provided accommodation, and a minimum monthly salary of 15,000 baht, which will allow for modest living and traveling expenses during your stay. With the backing of Overseas Educational Group and our partner organizations, participants will also receive a necessary working visa to cover the dates of their program, a work permit, an all-inclusive 7-day orientation in Bangkok covering the basics of teaching English as a foreign language, as well as vital in-country support throughout your stay!

Program Goals

The Teach in Thailand Program was developed with several important goals in mind:
  1. To support English language education for Thai students.
  2. To help solve an insufficiency of English language instruction in Thailand.
  3. To promote a healthy exchange of cultures and empathy between Thai students and foreign instructors, and to disseminate Thai traditions and culture to people of other countries.
  4. To provide people from around the world with a better awareness of Thai people, culture, and language through unique experiences in order for them to gain invaluable life skills.
What can be expected of a Thai host school?
  • We offer placements in both private and government schools that provide education at kindergarten, primary, and secondary levels. However, the current demand is greater for secondary placements (grades 7 – 12).
  • Our host schools are required to provide a monthly salary to the participants of at least 15,000 Baht (after tax deduction). Some schools may be able to offer a higher rate depending on the agreement between the school and the participant (higher salaries usually go to those with degrees in teaching or education).
  • Host schools will provide proper furnished accommodation for every participant, for example: a small dormitory, teacher's house, apartment or rented house.
  • Host schools are required to pay legal documentation expenses associated with working in Thailand, as well as assist with preparation and administration of this paperwork. For example, they must pay for work permits, document receipts, and medical reports.
  • Host schools will provide at least one coordinator to help arrange all details when participants are teaching in their schools. This will include assisting in dealing with cultural differences and with survival Thai language and culture.
  • Host schools provide suitable course materials and stationery when it is available. In some cases, the participant will need to create his or her own lesson plans when course materials are unavailable.
  • Host schools that accept a participant on a 1-year academic contract will provide a return air-ticket to the country of origin upon completion of the contract. This applies to participants starting in the May semester.
